• Chamber Nominates Hopewell Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Melody Hackney, to Go Virginia Board

    Dr. Melody Hackney Selected to Serve on the
    Region 4 Grow Capital Jobs Board of Directors  
    Hopewell/Prince George, Va. The Board of Directors appointed Dr. Melody Hackney, Superintendent of Hopewell Public Schools to serve on the Region 4 Board.  The HPG Chamber nominated Dr. Hackney.
    “We are very pleased that our nominee, Dr. Hackney, was chosen.  She joins a council of regional leaders from the Crater Region who work alongside the individuals chosen to represent the Richmond Region in evaluating projects that will advance our economic opportunities,” shared Will Clements, Vice President of The Bank of Southside Virginia, who served on the nominating committee and has been on the Council since its inception.
    “The HPG Chamber is very pleased about her selection because we are currently working with Dr. Hackney on a number of initiatives that connect business to public education; and she has demonstrated that she is very forward thinking,” according to Denny McDermott, Vice President ITAC and current President of the Hopewell/Prince George Chamber of Commerce.
    Melody Hackney, Ed.D., exuded enthusiasm following the news of her comfirmation by sharing "I am humbled and excited to have been appointed to this Board.  I can think of no greater work than partnering in our extended community to ensure our students and citizens have access and opportunities for meaningful work and compensation.  I look forward to contributing to growing Virginia's economy in our region and can't wait to get started!"
