• Downtown Hopewell's Storm Drain Redesign

    August 04, 2017
Downtown Hopewell’s storm drains will be given a make-over for a great cause!

Did you know pollution from stormwater runoff is the #1 health threat to our local waterways?

In an initiative to raise awareness of stormwater pollution and its effects on local waterways, Art on Wheels is doing what it does best by using artwork to highlight the importance of caring for our most beautiful community resources! The Richmond-based organization brings art out of the studio and into the community spreading the joy of personal expression and lifelong learning.

Art on Wheels will be using their specialized programming to impact the Hopewell Prince George community by painting storm drains to raise awareness of the effects of stormwater pollution, specifically to the James River.

Volunteers have been trained by Art on Wheels to use pre-designed stencils to liven-up the storm drains located between Randolph Road and Appomattox Street, and between Main Street and Hopewell Street.
