    The Commodores are coming! The Commodores are coming! Wake up the "Nightshift"!!! Wake up EVERYONE!!!
      
    "The Commodores" are coming on July 2, 2016, to celebrate Hopewell's 100th Anniversary. This is a special outdoor, musical concert in Festival Park behind the Beacon Theatre.  "The Commodores" are an American funk/soul band who highlighted the music industry in the late 1970's and 1980's. They won their first Grammy Award in 1986 with "Nightshift". Tickets are available now online at http://thebeacontheatreva.com/shows-2/ or at the Beacon Theatre. Gate opens at 4:00 pm, music begins at 4:30 pm, and "The Commodores" perform at 8:00 pm. Shuttle service will be provided from Hopewell High School to event. Map for shuttle is available at:

    July through August -- Historical Exhibit:  Old Hopewell Images Postcard Display.  Visit Old Hopewell and celebrate its 100th anniversary courtesy of two postcard collections recently donated to the Local History and Genealogical Collection at the Hopewell Library.  The postcards depict historical buildings and street scenes from the first half of Hopewell history, 1915 to 1966.     Special Weekend Events at Pamplin Historical Park. Explore the Civil War era as seen through the lens of modern 21st century life. We will discuss and demonstrate a variety of aspects of everyday life in the 19th century America.

    "Colonial Games, Songs, and Dance" sponsored by Henricus Historical Park.  Historical interpreters will present games, music, and dance of 17th century Virginia colonists.
    Participation will involve both children and adults.   Live music and light refreshments will be provided.  Tickets are:  adults $8.00, children (ages 3-12) $6.00.     If you haven't attended any of the lectures at the Appomattox Regional Library at 209 E. Cawson Street, Hopewell, VA, you have missed some very informative and exciting lectures.  They are FREE.  Bring a bag lunch, and HHF will provide drink and dessert.     "Come one, come all, and enjoy the ride (or have some fun).  2d Annual "Spirit of Freedom Ride" hosted by Hands of Rescue and Colonial Harley Davidson to benefit "Missing in American Project" on July 2, 2016. A 120-mile ride begins and ends at Colonial Harley Davidson.     No way! "Fireworks" Without the Explosive Display? Join a Pocahontas State Park Ranger and prepare to get a bit messy, as you make your own firework display without the use of fire or other explosives on July 3, 2016.  All materials will be provided.  Event begins at 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
      
    "Frisbee Frolic" sounds fun! Join a Park Ranger in a little friendly competition.  Frisbees will be provided. Wear sturdy shoes, prepare to be active, and to get dirty. Park entrance fee applies. Event takes place July 4, 2016, at 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  
      
    WOW!  "I Spy . . . Scavenger Hunt" at Pocahontas State Park on July 5, 2016.  See what the Ranger's see -- "signs of summer".  Event begins at 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm.
      
      
       
    Nathan Richardson is back and FREE pizza at the library!!!   When?  July 28, 2016.
    Poetry, Prose, and Pizza at the Prince George Library.     Weston Plantation is doing it again!  They are having a "Reverse Raffle on the River" event on July 30, 2016, that will also include BBQ picnic, tea, beer, wine, Margaritas, and live music, and lots of fun.  Only 200 tickets at $100 each (includes admission for two adults) will be sold.  The last number drawn will receive $5,000.  Proceeds will

This is an on-going competition between Prince George Fire and EMS versus Prince George Police Department.  Some good old fashion fun! Concessions will be available. T-Shirts will be on sale.
