Today from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM there will be an exciting event held at the Prince George County Reginal Heritage Center. The Virginia Commemorative Commission’s Mobile Unit, Profiles of Honor
will be located at Scott Park from 1:00 to 7:00pm commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I and the 75th anniversary of World War II.
This mobile exhibit invites community members to bring photographs form WWI and WWII to be scanned for inclusion in the Virginia Profiles of Honor Project. Be a part of history and contribute to this important project!
While you’re enjoying the mobile exhibit, consider purchasing a ticket to stay for the 9th
Annual Beefsteak Raid Commemoration Dinner. This fundraiser will support the new Fire and EMS Museum located adjacent to the Regional Heritage Center. Not only will you enjoy a delicious meal and support the preservation of local history, you will learn why President Lincoln called the Great Beefsteak Raid “the slickest piece of cattle rustling.”
This evening a bugler will initiate the official opening of the Annual Steak Dinner, held 152 years after the historic Raid. There will be live music under the pavilion along with period dancing by the Virginia Homespun Dance Ensemble (12th Virginia). Ending the evening will be a special auction designed for the evening by Brian Waymack of Waymack Auctions including a commemorative Henry Rifle similar to that carried in the Raid!
