The restaurant is HOUSEpitality Family’s fourth location of successful concept
RICHMOND, Va. (June 14, 2017) – The HOUSEpitality Family restaurant group announced today that The Boathouse at City Point will open on June 17 at 701 West Randolph Street in Hopewell. This is the first HOUSEpitality Family restaurant to open in the area, a project that has been in the works since 2015 when the City of Hopewell approached the restaurant group about partnering to support the city’s riverfront redevelopment plan.
“We’re honored to be a part of the revitalization in the Hopewell community – and it’s humbling to know that we’ll be part of celebrations for families, friends and businesses in the area for years to come,” said Kevin Healy, owner of the HOUSEpitality Family restaurant group that includes four locations of The Boathouse, Casa del Barco and the outdoor dining concept Dinner in the Field. “The amount of support that the City of Hopewell has shown to this project over the past few years has been incredible; it has been a true partnership.”
The restaurant, which will create about 75 jobs in the Hopewell area, offers guests a sweeping vista of the confluence of the Appomattox and James rivers and ties together the Beacon Theatre, Hopewell Marina and future Appomattox Riverwalk. The Boathouse at City Point will feature high-end interior design elements and offer private dining for large groups.
“Residents of Hopewell have been waiting for something like this to come along for a long time and, after years in the making, it’s wonderful to see this project completed,” said Charles Dane, Assistant City Manager for the City of Hopewell. “We’re ecstatic that through this partnership with The Boathouse, and the support of City Council, we are bringing waterfront dining back to our community.”
In addition to the 6,000 square feet of interior space and the 1,257 square foot patio, the restaurant has 2,450 square feet of event space that will feature a tent pad that is ideal for weddings, parties and other special occasions. J.D. Lewis Construction Management was the general contractor for the project, and Walter Parks Architects was the design team.
Seating capacity is set at 223, and part of the dining room can be closed off for private parties of 24-32 people. The Boathouse at City Point will offer a similar menu to other locations of The Boathouse, featuring coastal elements and a number of locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner and offer brunch on Sundays.
