From the City of Hopewell:
City staff and Mayor Gore have been working with the Governor’s Workforce Development Team to seek funding for a summer youth workforce development program. This program received $300,000 in funding for the summer of 2019. The program will serve 60 youth (up to age 24) to provide on-the-job and soft skills training. This program will run from June 17th-August 16th, 2019 with youth working within several city departments. The youth involved in this program will work in their respective departments four days a week, and the fifth day is reserved for collaborative support. This support would be in the form of soft skills training, exposure to future careers, field trips, etc. City staff hopes to ramp up this program to work with several local businesses in the coming years.
