    Hooray for Hopewell History Celebration
An Invitation to Experience, Celebrate, VA250 in Hopewell
On June 27, 2026, the City of Hopewell will come alive with the sights, sounds, and stories that define our community. From the heart of downtown to the banks of the Appomattox River, the Hooray for Hopewell History Celebration will transform the city into a vibrant, walkable festival where past and present come together in a meaningful and memorable way.
The day begins as families, visitors, and residents gather in downtown Hopewell, where streets once shaped by industry and innovation now serve as the backdrop for a new kind of energy. Music fills the air as live performances take the stage on Library Street, creating a welcoming rhythm of patriot music that carries throughout the day.
Children laugh and play in activity areas designed to spark curiosity and connection, while parents and grandparents rediscover stories that shaped Hopewell’s identity with our history walking tour. The event is intentionally designed for all ages—whether it’s a child experiencing their first community festival or a lifelong resident reconnecting with the city’s heritage.
Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time through guided tours of historic City Point and Appomattox Manor, where the National Park Service will bring history to life. These experiences offer a deeper understanding of Hopewell’s role in the broader story of our nation, creating moments of reflection alongside the celebration.
As the afternoon transitions into evening, live patriot themed music and vocal chorus will also be heard on the historic grounds of the Appomattox Manor as local groups celebrate the founding of our nation.
As the sun sets over the Appomattox River, the celebration reaches its crescendo. Guests make their way toward the waterfront, anticipation building for one of Hopewell’s most cherished traditions—Fireworks on the Appomattox provided by the Hopewell Department of Recreation and Parks.
The night sky ignites with color, reflecting off the water and illuminating the faces of those gathered below. It is a shared moment—powerful, unifying, and unforgettable.
This event is more than a traditional outdoor festival. It is a statement about who we are as a community and where we are going. It highlights Hopewell’s unique assets—its history, its people, its downtown, and its waterfront—while creating a welcoming environment that draws visitors and supports local businesses.
For sponsors, this is an opportunity to be part of something authentic and impactful. Your support helps bring this experience to life while placing your business at the center of a meaningful community celebration. It is not simply about visibility—it is about alignment with a city that is proud of its past and confident in its future.
Together, we invite you to help us create a day that celebrates Hopewell in a way that residents will cherish and visitors will remember long after the final firework fades.
