Petersburg, Va. – Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier announced today that Colin Romanick has been appointed the new Executive Director of Pamplin Historical Park. An experienced museum professional, Mr. Romanick succeeds Jerry Desmond and assumed all responsibilities on January 1, 2023. Mr. Desmond retired in December of 2022 to pursue travel and writing. The City of Hopewell was selected to receive $850,000 in funding from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development’s Industrial Revitalization Fund (IRF). The entirety of this sum will be used to renovate the Lamb Center for Arts and Healing’s building located in Downtown Hopewell. Richmond, VA - CultureWorks Tri-Cities Program Manager, Daniel Jones, is bringing to life a conservation effort started years ago in the Hopewell-Prince George area of Virginia. The effort was to bring back a healthy population of Atlantic sturgeon to the James and Appomattox Rivers by improving the spawning grounds and water quality. This annual amateur pork butt competition will take place along E Broadway Avenue between Route 10 and Hopewell Street! Admission is free, but tasting tickets are $15 and include a sampling of each competitor's BBQ as well as a ballot to vote for the People's Choice Award!
